Hi, friends!
Before I launched AGC, I was often asked “What is digital marketing?” Even in today’s digital & electronic age, people still aren’t sure what exactly it is or why they should implement it.
1. What is Digital Marketing?
Simply put, digital marketing is the selling or promotion (marketing) of services or products via an electronic platform. Digital marketing can happen in a variety of ways, whether that be websites, apps, online reviews, and social media.
2. 3 Reasons to Implement Digital Marketing
- Cost
Digital marketing can often reach more people at a lower cost than traditional marketing means. Think about the cost of sending out a paper newsletter or postcard to a specific zip code: printing cost + envelopes + postage + staff + your time. This can add up to thousands of dollars. Now, compare that to using a free platform, where you can still target your audience. You can even pay a low ad fee to promote your business or content. Which option would you choose?
(Bonus: Because of the ease of sharing social media, blog posts, and website links, often times more people will see your post than you initially targeted!) - Customer Engagement
Not only does digital marketing allow you to reach more potential clients at a lower cost, it also allows you to engage and build relationships with clients! When was the last time you saved a promotional postcard that you received? Through social media marketing and digital marketing, potential customers are inviting you into their lives. All you have to do is engage to capitalize on those relationships. - Referrals & Reputation
By having an online presence, clients are able to easily refer their friends and family to you. They are also able to leave you reviews, which can help other potential customers choose your business over a competitor!
3. Where Do I Start?
One of the best ways to create your online presence is by having an updated, user friendly website. If your website isn’t updated with recent content, easily accessible & visually appealing to users, or mobile friendly, people will move on. Second, create social media accounts! (Bonus: these are free!) I recently completed a website traffic source assessment for a client and found that roughly half of their website traffic comes from social media!
