As of 2023, it appears that YouTube is the most popular social media platform for Gen Z.  A close runner-up is Instagram, coming in third is TikTok, fourth is Snapchat, and fifth is Facebook. The other thing to note here is that Gen Z watches stories, reels, shorts, etc. on these platforms – they are also using these platforms to search for products and research said products.  So much so, TikTok is now testing a new feature that integrates Google search results into its in-app results, along with adding search tools like Keyword Insights to its Creative Center.

When you create content like this and get a little vulnerable people are more likely to connect with your brand.  You essentially create a community in which you can share your brand and inform them what is happening with your brand. Whether it’s being social with your customers, potential brand partnerships, etc. it is important to interact with others in the comment section to help build your community. It is also the perfect opportunity to listen and learn more about your audience and others in your community on social media.  This builds brand trust and creates deeper connections.  

What’s Trending On Social Media?

We touched on this a little bit earlier, that is a good thing to have your finger on the pulse of what is trending on social media.  Again, your content needs to be relatable to your brand and your audience.  When you go on your search for the latest trends on social media keep that top of mind.  TikTok does have a creative center where they share what is on trend and who is trending on their platform.  The thing is what usually works on TikTok, will more than likely also work on Instagram.
